How many people do you think asked Google last month to find “Furniture Winnipeg”?
I was asked this question in November and gave my guess at 10,000 people. You can imagine my surprise to find out the number was actually 1,200,000. It made me realize that there is another whole world out there that I am not engaged with. The world is changing and the way people do business has dramatically changed. No longer are the yellow pages the first stop on researching where to purchase products. More and more people are relying on search engines on the web. I realized that having a web page that was interactive and informative was no longer in the future it needed to happen now. We hired a company to help design it and I made the proclamation that I wouldn’t be involved in the process. It is sort of like when I arrive at the house and the husband will say, “This is my wife’s thing. I don’t care what you two do.” I always smile and agree but I know that before the process is finished that the husband will be involved and that he will have very strong opinions. It makes sense that he will have an opinion; he lives there and design has a huge impact on how the space is used and enjoyed. I should have known better; I should have known that I would have an opinion on how I would want the web page to look. Before I knew what was happening I was attending every meeting and driving the poor web site designers crazy but in the end the site is beautiful and as we develop it further is going to be extremely useful.
Even though the site is not complete, we decided to launch. As the site is developed we will be offering you the ability to order product online.
