Everything I Know About Business I Learned from My Dog (Part Three)

They are dirty, usually disgusting, and they never, ever clean up after themselves. No I am not talking about husbands I am talking about dogs. All in all there doesn’t seem to be one redeeming virtue that should make any sane person want a dog. But I couldn’t imagine my life without my beloved pets. My dogs have taught me a lot about life and when I think about it they have taught me a lot about business as well.

If you are a Mom you know what I mean when I say that it gets a little discouraging raising your children. I was fortunate enough to be a stay at home Mom for a number of years. Dad came home from a long day at work and a shriek would echo through out the house “Daddy is home” and my two blondies would drop whatever they were doing and fly into his arms. Now if I were able to get away for a few hours upon my return I would get the bored look that meant, “Oh, you’re back.” Perhaps I exaggerate but to a tired Mom’s eyes that’s what it looked like. All that changed when we brought home two beautiful soft white English setter puppies. I have never encountered this before or since but both these dogs would chatter their teeth when they got excited and nothing was more exciting than one of the family entering the house. They would leap up and run full barrel at the door never figuring out how to slow down before reaching it. Sometimes it was just a little overwhelming trying to juggle grocery bags while dodging around two large beasts. But looking down and seeing two pair of soft brown eyes looking up at me with big wide grins, teeth chattering a mile a minute would make my day.

I think everyone wants to feel that when they enter a room someone is genuinely pleased to see them. At Changes By Design we can’t promise that our teeth will chatter when you stop by our store but we will endeavor to make you feel special every time you visit.
